A momentous occasion

The Dirt Turns 1-month old

Howdy y’all,

As of today, The Dirt is 1 month old. Isn’t it cute?

Like all month old babies, The Dirt flails and cries and sleeps and… fills its diaper. Such is life for a 1-month old. Still, I am a proud dad and am happy to tell anyone who is bored enough to hear all about my smelly bundle of joy.

I look back over the last month and see the letter starting to take shape. There are some things that I like. There are some things that I am going to change. The Weeklies will be more action-oriented, more current events informative, more Texas land, and less wonky economics stuff. I will start a new section called The Dirt Dives Deep where I shall spew forth all the nerd words. That will be a separate subscription to give you the option of diving deep with me. Or not.

If you are reading this, I owe you a big thanks. Without readers, writing is all so much yelling into the dark. Thanks for sticking with this baby for a whole month. I anoint all of you Dirty godparents. Congratulations! As godparents, I must ask a big favor: if any of you have any notes of wisdom, direction, hints, suggestions, etc that you’d like to push my way, I would be very grateful. Swooping in at just the right moment with just the right advice is exactly what godparents are for, right?

Together we shall watch this baby grow. Hopefully we can keep the Dirty diapers to a bare minimum.
